How to Scent Hotel and Condo Corridors
Corridors are where buildings show their age: cooking smells, carpet, stale air. How hotels and condo buildings scent hallways so every floor smells cared for.
The lobby gets the attention, but the corridor is where guests and residents walk every day. Cooking smells, carpet, garbage chutes and stale air collect there, and they shape how people feel about the whole building.
The short answer
Fix the airflow first, then scent corridors through the corridor ventilation system or with small units at elevator lobbies, using a clean, light scent at a low setting.
Step 1: Airflow
Many buildings supply fresh air to corridors so smells from units do not drift out. If that system is weak or off, corridors fill with cooking smells. Ask your building engineer to check corridor supply air and filters before adding scent.
Step 2: Choose a delivery method
- Through the corridor air system: a cold-air diffuser connected to the make-up air unit scents every floor evenly. Best for larger buildings.
- Elevator lobby units: a small cold-air diffuser at each elevator lobby. The scent greets people as the doors open.
- Garbage chute rooms: a small unit here makes a noticeable difference.
Step 3: The right scent
Clean, light and universally liked. Residents live with it every day.
- Thé Blanc: clean white tea, our first choice for residential corridors.
- Grand Foyer: bright and polished, matching a hotel-style lobby.
- L'Eau de Verre: fresh and airy.
Use the same scent as your lobby so the building reads as one.
Step 4: Keep it low
Corridors are narrow and doors open into them. Low settings with long pauses keep it pleasant for residents who pass many times a day. See scenting considerately.
How much oil
A building-wide system or several elevator-lobby units can use a litre a month or more. Set up standing orders so the building manager never has to chase it.

Our concentrates are made for waterless (cold-air, nebulizing) diffusers that have a refillable oil bottle. They are not for water (ultrasonic) diffusers or sealed-cartridge machines.
