Vellum Amour: What It Smells Like and Where to Use It
Ripe peach and mimosa over rose petals, settling into sandalwood and a cashmere-soft amber: the moment the door closes behind you. Where Vellum Amour works best.
Vellum Amour smells like the moment the door closes behind you: warm skin, soft petals, a room that is yours again. It is the gentlest of our scents and the one most often chosen for a bedroom.
If you are choosing a signature scent for your home or your business, this guide covers what Vellum Amour smells like, how it behaves in a room, and where it earns its place.
What Vellum Amour smells like
The opening is ripe peach and mimosa, sunny and a little honeyed. Rose petals and sweet clover come through the middle, more garden than florist. The base is sandalwood and a warm, cashmere-soft amber that keeps the fruit and flowers from ever turning sugary. In a room it settles quickly into a soft, skin-like warmth that people describe as comforting rather than sweet.
It leans feminine but is easy to share, and it suits blush and cream tones, linen, soft lighting and any room meant for rest.
How it behaves in a room
Our Vellum Amour Reed Diffuser is blended by hand in Toronto and rested for a day before it is boxed, so the scent settles into the base and throws evenly from the first morning. The reeds release it slowly and continuously: no spray, no switch, no schedule. It is strongest within a few steps of the bottle and softens toward the edges of the room.
A reed diffuser is a presence rather than a blast, so placement matters more than strength. Put it where people naturally slow down and it will do most of the work for you.
Where to use Vellum Amour
1. The bedroom. This is its home. On a dresser, a few steps from the bed, it reads as warmth and calm.
2. Guest rooms. A soft, welcoming scent that never overwhelms a visitor.
3. A dressing room or walk-in closet. Peach and rose on fabric is a quiet luxury.
4. A reading corner or sunroom. It suits afternoon light and a chair you do not want to leave.
5. Bridal suites, lash and brow studios, boutiques and spas. For a space built around care and softness, Vellum Amour fits without trying.
Where it is less suited
Vellum Amour is soft and warm, so a few spaces call for something brighter or deeper:
- The kitchen, where a cleaner scent such as Thé Blanc or L'Eau de Verre does better.
- A formal entrance, where Grand Foyer or Bergamot Obscura sets a stronger tone.
- Offices and workrooms, where a woodier scent keeps people alert.
Placement tips that make a difference
- Choose a stable surface away from the main walking path. Fragrance oil can mark finished wood, so set the bottle on a tray, a stone coaster or a small dish.
- Keep it out of direct sun and strong drafts. Sunlight warms the oil and drafts strip it from the reeds too quickly.
- Give it breathing room. Two or three steps of open space around the bottle lets the scent move.
- Start with fewer reeds. You can always add more once you know how the room takes it.
- Flip the reeds once a week. It refreshes the top of the reeds and keeps the scent present without adding more oil.
Seasonal notes
Year-round, with a sweet spot from late winter through spring when a room wants a little warmth and a little bloom at the same time. In summer, run it with fewer reeds; the peach note travels further in warm air.
For businesses
For a bridal boutique, a lash or esthetics studio, a med-spa recovery room or a florist, Vellum Amour is a natural fit. It is also the scent we suggest for proposals and intimate dinners through our event scenting service.
Three ways to bring Vellum Amour home
- The Vellum Amour Reed Diffuser — 200 ml in a weighted smoked-glass vessel, 60 to 90 days of scent, and a vessel worth keeping.
- The Vellum Amour Reed Diffuser Refill — for the vessel you already own.
- The Vellum Amour fragrance oil — selected and bottled in Toronto for nebulizing (waterless) scent systems, or a few drops on a pomander.
Prefer a brighter rose? Velours Rose is the mandarin-and-rose scent in the same family; Vellum Amour is the softer, peach-and-amber one.
